The Congress Programme 25th, 26th & 27th March 2011

As usual, the BANS Congress will take place at a weekend, with welcome events starting on Friday evening, and final farewells being said on Sunday afternoon.

In recent years, the Congress has been held in early April, but for 2011 the dates have been brought forward slightly, to the end of March, in order to avoid conflict with the Grand National, being run close by at Aintree, and with Easter which is 22nd-25th April.

Excursions, Explorations and Entertainments

One of the traditions of the BANS Congress is that the Saturday afternoon is devoted to matters perhaps only peripherally numismatic, and the 2011 Congress is no exception. There is much to see and do in Southport or, for those seeking to go a little further, the metropolitan delights of Liverpool - with the Albert Dock and Liverpool One beckoning - are a simple train ride away.

Alternatively, there will be an informal talk, with Power Point presentation, of a national-awards-nominated project:

Renovation to an important Grade I early 16th Century timber-framed house in Writtle, Essex.

Joe Bispham
